Minimize the use of fossil fuels – that’s the goal of Herrmann Ultraschall’s management for the proposed building extension planned for 2017/18.
Right in time for the VDMA Action Week from 19 - 25 September 2016, the Task Force "Energy and Emissions" was established to counsel the building committee.
"We were working on the topic anyways", says Thomas Herrmann, CEO and Chairman, "and so the impulse through the VDMA Action Week came at the right time. I think it's good that our most important industry association is committed to CSR issues.
" The VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, Mechanical Engineering Industry Association) represents over 3,100 mostly medium-sized companies in the capital goods industry, making it the largest industry association in Europe. http://wir-unternehmen-was.de/
For the new construction sustainable energy alternatives are to be evaluated. This may be solar energy or a block-type thermal power station at the company’s premises for the on-site production of electrical energy and heat. Here, a higher overall efficiency arises, because the waste heat of the power generation can be used to heat locally. "We want to increase our energy efficiency and we want to use renewable energy," concludes Thomas Herrmann, "but as a first step, the challenge now is to gather facts for decision-making".
The new building 2017/18 with additional 7600 m² will increase the current footage from 9600 m² to 17,200 m².
