A warm welcome for wvib and round table asylum at Herrmann Ultraschall
21.07.2016

On July 19 Herrmann Ultraschall hosted the latest wvib-business talk with Klaus Heuberger. A great occasion for an update on the refugee work by the „Round Table Asylum Karlsbad“, represented by Michael Nowotny. Last November the wvib had donated a sizeable sum for this great cause.

Michael Nowotny is a warm-hearted and non-prejudiced advocate for people and embraced the refugee problem as early as 2013. He played ball with the first refugees and “talked with hands and feet”. He contributed to implementing structures like the “Round Table Asylum” and passionately coordinated the volunteer work among citizens, the community and the state. “Together and as early as possible we can form something great and we can win the children, a key to the hearts of the grown-ups”, he says. The volunteer work in Karlsbad has grown and offers regular intercultural meetings, child care and help with everyday life chores. Nowotny has also seen to it that refugee kids can play music at the Etzenrot music association and play soccer at the soccer association VFL Ittersbach.

“An intercultural understanding is of utmost importance”, says Nowotny, “some cultures may only sit on the floor and have a different understanding of timeliness. And we have to have empathy as some people are very traumatized.”

The wvib (Freiburger Wirtschaftsverband Industrieller Unternehmen Baden e.V.) is an association networking companies in the Black Forest area. Herrmann Ultraschall was asked to name the recipient of last year’s donation from the wvib annual general meeting in November. As a result € 12.500 were given o the “Round Table Asylum and Refugee Relief”, a joint effort by volunteers, the Lutheran church Spielberg and the city of Karlsbad to provide critical relieve to refugees. The money helped hiring a staff person, Sabine Meglio, coordinating all refugee related tasks. Sabine Meglio started in April 2016
