For the assembly of the "Genspeed" test chip we decided to use ultrasonic welding which is a technology well-known to us.
Laser welding would probably have been feasible as well. The delicate measurements of the chip required a technology with fine parameterization und assured reproducibility as it is the case with ultrasonic welding. For the functionality of the test chip (capillary effect) it is vital to execute a very precise bonding process. The chip is used to detect MRSA infections.
